Hitchin and District Scout has now expanded to include a Network section.
Scout Network is for 18 to 25 year-olds who have a continued interest in Scouting and their own personal development. Network, being the next section up from Explorers, recognises that once you reach 18 you may require a less formal involvement with Scouting depending on your personal circumstances.
Activities
Scout Network members may take part in a variety of activities, which they undertake and organise themselves, with the support of the Scout Network Leader. This will include all the usual outdoor stuff, plus the opportunity to take a more active part in the leadership of the various groups around the area, so if you want to develop your leadership skills post Explorers or Young Leaders, fancy a spot of camping or the odd evening out, or maybe enter Peak Assault as part of a Network team, then Network will make this possible for you.
Larger district events will also be open for Network Scouts to attend and learn about the operational end of expedition planning, as well as participating. If you’re looking to gain Activity Permits then Network can put you in touch with the relevant people in the county who can help you here as well.
If you’re on the way to Queen’s Scout Award or DofE you can continue these within Network with the support of the Scout Association, or if you want to get some volunteering experience then Network can help you find the right group to assist in meeting your objectives.
Of course if you just want to catch up with some old friends, touch base when you’re home from University or College to find out what’s happening then you can keep in touch through our Facebook page and come along when you’re in and around Hitchin.
